Nick Hocking found his love for fishing at the tender young age of two when his father Trevor and grandfather Raymond first began the long process of educating the next generation of Hocking on the finer arts of angling. After many years of freshwater, estuary, beach, rock and shallow water offshore fishing around the areas of Port Stephens N.S.W. Nick and his father began to explore their way further and further into the exciting world of game fishing. Both Nick and his father Trevor spent many great years enjoying the sport with Nick racking up many junior Australian, state and world records with the help of his father and the crew on the now legendary game boat, Born Free. Nick later went on to represent Australia twice in the sport of game fishing before relocating to Western Australia where he went on racking up records and winning prestigious tournaments for the Perth Game Fishing Club.
Nick’s skills and knowledge were further developed after spending many years working for various Perth based tackle stores where he was later head hunted to present the popular Western Australian television show, Fishing Western Australia. Nick travelled the Western Australian coastline extensively over his four year involvement with the show targeting an enormous variety of fish species with an extraordinary array of tackle and techniques proving both his fishing knowledge and skill sets to be some of the best available. Nick has also written hundreds of fishing articles for various Western Australian fishing publications including the Western Australian Fishing Magazine and over the years has certainly proven himself to be an angler well worth listening to.
Nick has always prided himself on educating other anglers in the wonderful sport of fishing and has now put all of his hard learned knowledge down for you all to view. After all knowledge isn’t knowledge unless you share it!
